This coffee comes from Café Monteverde, a producer group of 250 smallholder farmers in the Rodriguez de Mendoza province of Peru's Amazonas region. Founded in 2003 by Alfonso Tejada and Karen Araoz, the organization is built around their own Finca Timbuyacu, which serves as a model farm to teach members sustainable, organic-certified farming and advanced post-harvest processing techniques. By focusing on high-quality, shade-grown varieties like Bourbon, Caturra, and Typica at high altitudes, Café Monteverde helps its farmer members produce exceptional and complex coffees while improving their livelihoods and protecting the region's biodiversity.
